When I was in college, I read in the news that 90% of the world’s heroin comes out of Afghanistan, and my life was never the same. Since then, I’ve had the privilege to live in a fascinating and beautiful nation, and there have been countless miles on dirt roads, hours spent in Dari class, cups of heartwarming tea, and incredible relationships that have brought us to the creation and introduction of our brand: Tahmina. 

Tahmina (a girl’s name derived from the Persian word tahm, meaning strong & brave) is an international brand with a vision to export transformational products from different conflict areas of the world. We believe that economic development is one of the sustainable agents of change to war-torn societies, and that the call to bravery will overcome the history of fear in these nations. Our maiden project begins in Afghanistan with one of its best luxury items: saffron and saffron-infused teas. Tahmina seeks to connect local farmers with international markets, employ Afghan women, and help develop industries that can be alternatives to the illicit drug economy.
